CD Art Cover This is my latest CD Art Cover featuring a DarkWave Band called Black Reign. The idea came from a photo session I did this past February with a model called Isabelle, an actress/model, who has been doing horror movies since 2001. I created the many layers in both Photoshop CS2 and Macromedia Fireworks 8 which are two of my favorite image editors. The overall composition took a fair amount of time to achieve, resulting in the most extensive CD art cover I've created to date. Front Cover In the image above you can see the original composition added to the cracked concrete wall, this effect is achieved by slicing and adding the many layers into Photoshop. Other elements were added to futher enhance this image such as some script, spiders and house flies on the wall. The frame was given a shadow line to create the illusion of depth and lastly, the band CD title was added to the final image along with a black border. Once I am satisfied with where the elements are located I generally tend to play with the brightness and contrast followed by the color saturation until I get the right look. Composition The above image gives you an idea of how the composition was created with the tray card and front cover all done in one piece. The only item not added is the black grunge border which was created with the Auto FX PGE 6.0 plug-in.

Original Composition Close-Up The above image is part of the original art work I made from an image which was manipulated with several Photoshop 'after market Plug-ins' to give it the look I needed for this composition. After it was done I felt like it was missing something and that is how the idea came to me that since it is a picture frame that it should perhaps be hanging on a wall. The wall that I selected as a background for the frame to hang on is a crack concrete wall which had the right look for this rather dark composition. Tray Card Here you can see the tray card which is the back of the CD cover where the song titles generally are along with the length of the tracks. Other information on CDs usually include the name of the band, website address, copyright info, bar code and where the CD was recorded.
