This photograph is of "Serious Sam," a little gray and white stray that I took in when the storm, Katrina, hit where I live. At that point Katrina had lost most of its punch and the result was a lot of heavy rains. This little kitten was left out in the storm, and I discovered him soaked and crying in my backyard. He was named for the fact that for 3 days after - even once being dry, warm and fed - he would not play at all like a kitten should. I think he was a bit unsettled from the storm but with time he came out of his shell and became the little playful, affectionate cat that he is now. Sam now has been my companion for over 2 years and he brings joy into my daily life.
It took several photographs to get one where he was looking straight at me (and not blinking) which goes to show that sometimes pet photography can be somewhat challenging. Very little was done in terms of processing the image except to boost the contrast and to add a grunge border.
